Why are Indian Students moving abroad for studies

The war between Ukraine and Russia brought to light the number of Indian students moving abroad for higher education. About 20,000 Indian students were evacuated safely from Ukraine.

This leads to a question being asked why are so many learners leaving their nation to study overseas.
You would find a lot many advantages of shifting abroad for further studies while surfing through the net.
The student-friendly policies have made it easier than ever to study abroad.
But the question remains, WHY ARE INDIAN STUDENTS MOVING ABROAD?

Competition:

The most talked-about factor in India is the availability of seats. For instance last year ~16 lakh students appeared for NEET, and ~8 lakh cleared the entrance but the seats available at government medical colleges were only 90,000. 90 out of 100 students who cleared the gruesome exam didn't get a seat. Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar, the Indian medical student who unfortunately passed away in shelling in Kharkiv, Ukraine scored 97℅ in 12th. The increase in the reserved seats without an increase in the total amount of seats exacerbated the dilemma furthermore.

Competition is healthy and a part of life.

Whereas this is more of warfare.
We often complain about the lack of doctors in our healthcare system and the solution is simple.
Increase the number of seats but so far it looks only like a distant dream when the MPs are busy fighting for their seat in Parliament.

Cost :

Although the tuition fee for medical college is more than government colleges in India, it's far lesser than that in private colleges. Despite more fees in private institutions, the education quality is far superior abroad. It is a luxury to study medicine in a private college in India where the fees per anum are close to 1Cr.

Course :

18℅ of the students who decide to study abroad are not medical students but engineering students. The course and curriculum have not changed at all despite all the criticism of how only 2℅ of the engineers are employable. Many engineers now are applying for the job of peons or opening their biryani stalls, there are endless examples of the job scarcity among the engineers. This is also stated as "stubborn unemployment" when the rate of unemployment remains the same or increases. 24% of the students opt for advanced courses like robotics, and AI which aren't found much in the country and if found the course doesn't suffice the needs.
Even research scholars leave the country to get the opportunity and funds abroad. According to UNESCO GERD is used to calculate funds in R&D. India spends a mere 0.66℅ of the GDP in R&D. While nations like China 2℅, USA2.7℅, and Japan 3.4℅ of their GDP.

Convenience:

Punjab is the best example in this area. 9.84L Punjabis left for Canada out of which 3.79L were just students. They say there is no opportunity in Punjab, abroad they can work part-time and cope with their day-to-day expenses. The situation is bad that you would be paid more in a part-time job abroad than in a full-time job in India. Due to the lesser population, the competition is in control and one would readily get the course one wishes to opt for.

Career:

A person studies to land a job. While there is a fight in medical seats, engineering seats are going empty and the number of engineering seats has decreased as job opportunities are shrinking. There is extensive evidence of the poor state of engineers in the country who are applying for peon or are opening their Biryani stall. The overall number of jobs is shrinking while the workforce increases day by day. India's workforce population is set to overtake the population of the dependents. This was capitalised by the countries like Japan, and South Korea but the same thing in India is becoming a problem and the situation is being mishandled.

Conclusion:

While communal violence increases which are on full display on our news channels whilst the actual problems like unemployment, and inflation are aggravating.

(The picture depicts the average inflation since 2014 has been a staggering 48℅ meanwhile the average increase in salary in the same period has been just 23℅)

Seeing no improvement and a lucrative chance to study and settle abroad the choice becomes obvious. The student laws have made it easier to attract more students to study and possibly work and settle in their nation.

India is the largest exporter of students and until we don't address the situation more students will keep moving abroad for a better chance and life.
